“We were deeply saddened to hear of the death on Christmas Day from leukaemia of our Wardrobe Supervisor, Elizabeth Huggins.
Elizabeth had been in charge of Wardrobe for New Devon Opera since its inception in 2004. She made a huge contribution to the setting up and success of NDO and her professionalism, dedication and skill were deeply appreciated by all the artists with whom she worked, as well as by everyone in the company.
Elizabeth was always prepared to ‘go the extra mile' – make a new dress at the last minute when one didn't quite work, spend hours unpicking and re-sewing so that the result would be perfect and, taking the responsibility of the Wardrobe function as a most important member of the Production team.
We will miss her kindness, her warmth, her fabulous sense of humour and her generosity of spirit and action.
We send our deepest sympathy to her husband, daughter and all her family.

Auditions for Community chorus, Orchestra, Actors, Dancers and Production Team The company currently uses a community chorus – drawn for each production from all over the south west - Wiltshire, Somerset , Devon and Cornwall . Auditions for Rigoletto's mens' chorus and for comprimario roles will be held in Newton Abbot on the morning of Sunday 5 January 2008. The production will be sung in the Schirmer translation by Ruth & Thomas Martin.

·We are delighted to send our congratulations to Tyrone Piper, as he has won the "Cornwall has Talent" competition on Atlantic FM. Tyrone has sung with NDO on several occasions and took part in the Jose Cura Opera Project this year. We wish him all the best with his new recording contract and his future career.
